For most people, the best option is the fast boat. You leave Bali and arrive directly at one of the Gili Islands without changing transport.
Where fast boats depart from
There are three main departure points in Bali.
Padang Bai is the most commonly used port. It offers the shortest travel time and the largest number of departures. If you want the fastest connection, this is usually the best choice.
Sanur is more convenient if you’re staying in areas like Canggu, Seminyak, or Kuta. The journey is longer and often includes stops along the way.

From Padang Bai, the journey to Gili Trawangan usually takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Gili Air can take slightly longer.

Most boats depart in the morning, usually between 8:00 and 10:30 AM.

Gili Trawangan is the busiest island, with the most restaurants, nightlife, and activities.
Gili Air offers a balance between a relaxed atmosphere and enough places to go out.
